The mouse was the same one that came with the computer, the same one she had been using day in and day out for the last 3 years. ![]() I arrive at her desk to see her sitting a few feet away from her computer staring at her post-startup/login desktop. My curiosity piqued, I went over to help. MOBILE MOUSE PRO CRASHED HOW TONow, a lot of thoughts go through my head all at once: CAN a mouse crash a computer? did she plug in a new mouse? is there a failing USB controller on the desktop? does she even KNOW how to plug in a USB mouse? is it something else? it's probably something else?!!?!?! Deciding that she both can't plug in a USB cable and that a mouse can't crash a computer without a faulty USB controller, the IAmVerySmart part of my brain is throwing up alarms that this is impossible. ![]() I get a ticket from $ONL with the subject "My mouse is crashing the computer" and no other details. At the same time, she was the kind of user who would think that a program was uninstalled from her computer if the icon changed or got moved or deleted from her desktop. She was an extremely dedicated worker who would always bring in tons of food and gifts for the office. But, as with all places, there were some people that were not as technically savvy as the others. All in all it was a great gig with some great people. I worked for the university supporting the administrative staff and public facing computers of the student center. Long time lurker first time poster! For full disclosure and preface, I no longer work in tech support, but it was a great (albeit storied) way to help get myself through college without eating Cup Noodles daily. ![]()
